Believe in the Gold is a foundation that originated out of Calgary after sixteen year old, Jacey Uphill lost her life on October 14, 2012 after a two and a half year battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. This foundation is 100% volunteer based with no money going to administration expenses, unlike many charities as we know. The proceeds of all monies raised goes to: 10% childhood cancer awareness, 45% to Dr. Doug Mahoney, Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Disease. Dr. Mahoney’s focus is treating childhood cancers with oncolytic viruses. The remaining 45% of monies raised goes directly to Saskatchewan families struggling with the financial burden of a child diagnosed with cancer.
